I found my passion for Nehemiah’s Restoration earlier in my life on a trip to Ethiopia in 2002, when a little girl from a nearby village of Selamber wandered into our morning church service.  Later that day it was explained that she was orphaned, along with her siblings. Living in the nearby village, she was a victim of the HIV/AIDS epidemic in her community and had been forced into a life of labor with her older brothers and sisters.
I was so moved by the plight of this little girl, I still see her in my dreams today.  For whatever reason the Lord will not release me from the memory of her, nor can I turn my heart away from the overwhelming passion to serve those people whom without our help their plight will remain hopelessly unchanged forever!

I got my passion for Nehemiah's Restoration at the age of 15 on my first international trip with my father to Ethiopia in summer of 2005.  We were in the city of Abba Minch building a district training center.  There wasn't any fresh water at the work site, so we had to purchase bottled water for drinking.  As we would finish drinking the water out of the bottles we were asked by the local workers there if they could have the empty plastic bottles.  We couldn't figure out why they wanted the empty plastic bottles, until it was explained to us they didn't have any way to port drinking water when traveling from village to village.  We were so moved by there lack of basic needs we decided to give them unopened bottles of fresh water!  It was an amazing day!  They were so thankful, because no one had ever given them anything so important as fresh drinking water.  Ever since that day, I knew I wanted to help people in a much greater way for my Lord!
